I help local government leadership teams develop the conditions for stronger workplaces, better relationships, and more thoughtful civic leadership.

HISTORY
For 40 years, Nancy has worked with public sector organizations to create workplaces that value human engagement, build strong community connections and help leadership teams excel.
My early ideas were forged from an undergraduate education in Dance Therapy and Psychology, and a graduate education in Labor, Management, and Organization Development. The attention to people, movement, systems and the conditions that allow all three to thrive is still with me.
My client philosophy is that we begin with ideas. We look at structures and conditions in place, what needs to be done and where the organization is ready to go. We bring together resources, people and strategies. We don’t give up, we celebrate our successes.
Civic engagement is deeply connected to curiosity about the perspectives, stories and experiences of others. For this reason, executive leadership team development and learning crosses over into community building. This is where the shift begins.
Participation is the apex of organization and community life. We model it to cultivate healthy systems and environments.

What is Possible…
What becomes possible when an organization understands itself clearly? We look at the work, the people doing it, and the conditions that shape both. Then we build something better.

FAQs
What is my process when working in smaller municipalities?
Small municipalities bring unique opportunities and challenges in the history embedded in the community and organization that has been shaped around distinct cultural characteristics. I take time to understand how staffing and resources shape the scope and complexity of work. I make sure we are focused on what is going to make the most impact going forward. We dispel with unnecessary formal structures where flexibility and clear, straightforward pathways are preferred.
What is unique about me?
I take a whole system approach to working with clients. This means we partner to consider perspectives from employees, elected officials, community and others who make an impact. Decades of experience in all types of municipalities and countless hours of interviews, analysis of work and opportunities to observe helps me make well informed insights and form questions that lead to conversations, trust and lasting relationships.
What kind of data do I bring to my work?
I develop a mix of qualitative and quantitative data to help executive leaders formulate good recommendations for their boards. Interview findings, internal and external data gathering and research that form a foundation for what comes next.
What are the biggest painpoints I address?
Executive leaders want to bring their ideas forward but most often need an honest assessment of internal capabilities and a clear line of sight. I help them solve organization problems that feel big and complex and that others may feel nothing can be done about.
The work doesn’t stop at the edge of the organization.
